Information Security Analyst

Duties and Responsibilities:

Overview: The candidate shall provide Information Assurance analytical, technical and documentation support to NAVSEA for supporting C&A efforts. Ensuring the command implements IA standards, policies, and objectives as defined in SECNAVINST 8500.1, 8500.2 and other DoD and DoN related policies.

Under general direction, implements and supports local area network (LAN) and campus area network (CAN) hardware and software. Analyzes customer workflow and procedures to recommend operational support tools and technologies to satisfy customer needs. Ensures workstations/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing and managing appropriate software / hardware solutions. Acts as a liaison between the customer, suppliers, and other technical groups to resolve network and hardware problems. Analyzes performance problems and recommends solutions to enhance functionality, reliability and/or usability. Participates on project teams in the implementation of new/upgraded designs. Implements operational support standards and procedures relating to change management, performance management, and security. Recommends changes and improvements to existing standards. Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups, and database archive operations. Develops site administration documentation. Provides user orientation on hardware, software and network operations. Keeps abreast of emerging operational support technologies and industry trends.

Information Assurance Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) Support

The candidate shall provide Information Assurance analytical, technical and documentation support to NAVSEA for supporting DoD Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) requirements. Ensuring that the command complies with IA standards, policies, and objectives as defined in SECNAVINST 8500.1, 8500.2 and other DoD and DoN related policies.

Work Description: The contractor shall coordinate with Government IA functional managers, to support Information Assurance requirements as directed by CNO, NAVNETWARCOM, and NAVSEA. This includes support to the DoD STIG requirements, IAVA/IVAM Compliance, System Scanning/Patching/Remediation.

The contractor shall participate in the completion of C&A documents for hosted applications and hosting environments with C&A Engineers. The Contractor shall review, maintain and disseminate information relating to NAVSEA C&A procedures and business processes. The Contractor shall participate in improving C&A business processes used by the IA team.

Perform required Security Test and Evaluations (ST&E) in accordance with standards and policies.

Perform Risk Analysis and provide recommendations on mitigations in support of C&A requirements. Documents are to be in formats as directed by IA policy and guidance. Prepare and provide Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) in support of risk mitigation efforts. The candidate shall work closely with Configuration & Change Management (CCM), Business Continuity, and IA teams to coordinate and document changes that affect C&A documentation packages

Education and Relevant Work Experience Requirements:

This work requires certification at IA Level II in accordance with DoD 8570.01 and SECNAV 5239.2 (CompTIA Security+ and MCSE or MCITP Windows 2008 Certifications.

CANDIDATE MUST ALREADY HAVE or BE ABLE TO MAINTAIN A GOVERNMENT ISSUED SECURITY CLEARANCE
